What is a lurcher? A lurcher is not a breed of dog but a type of dog that results from cross-breeding a sighthound with another working breed and they come in all shapes and sizes. What is a sighthound? Greyhounds, Salukis, Afghan hounds, Borzois, Irish wolfhounds, Deerhounds, Pharoah hounds, Galgos, Whippets and Italian greyhounds are all classed as sighthounds. What is a longdog? A longdog is a cross between two different breeds of sighthound. Could you offer a loving, caring and permanent home to one or more of our lurchers? ¤ They make wonderful companion animals. ¤ The younger dogs may need more exercise and are best suited to active owners or families. ¤ The middle-aged and older dogs will be happier with older owners or quieter families. ¤ Their appetites will vary depending on their size and activity level - see the Breed Info page. ¤ As with any breed, some lurchers are cat-friendly. All we ask is that you are able to provide a loving, patient and caring home. Rescue dogs need time to adjust to their new life and watching them settle down into their new home and routine can bring you a great deal of pleasure. For further information, contact Deb or Bob.
