Subtle

I have noticed the humans here make New Year?s resolutions.  I'm going to do one!  I'm going to resolve to be subtle to get my own way!
I have watched that spoiled brat Boomer get everything he wants and wrap humans round his little paw.  If the dragon is eating something tasty, I jump in there and get my 'sneck' between her plate and her mouth and say quite clearly "Giv'us a bite".  I usually get growled at, pushed away and have to go away empty handed.  Boomer has a totally different and more subtle approach.  HE stands a few feet away, puts on his 'poor me face', and very quietly says, "I would be so very eternally grateful if you could just see it in your heart to give me just a tiny morsel of whatever it is that you are eating please".  HE always gets a treat.
HE even manages to get us dogs to do his bidding.  HE thinks the settee is his own personal possession, and likes to curl up at an end with his head on one of the arms.  If Figment and I are both on the settee and there is no room for him, he whines until Figment moves.  Although it is a 3 seater, if I manage to get on first, I can lie on my back on the middle cushion and spread both my ends over the other two cushions, thus making no room for the whinging brat. On the occasions that HE can't get the dragon to make me budge up and make room for him, he still gets his own way.  HE trots to the lounge window, barks loudly, as though someone has arrived; when I jump off to look what is happening; he dashes onto the settee - I fall for his cunning trick every damn time!
Yep, subtlety, that's the way forward for me.  ~ now, where is that dragon? ~ "GIV'US a chicken wing"!
